I went to a cookie exchange party. I could leave it at that and just let you look at the cute pictures, but there is so much more to tell!
First of all, I got invited to a cookie exchange party. I received and e-vite and quickly responded that I planned on attending. However, there were some rules for the party. Here are the rules:
1. Submit your recipe as soon as possible.
2. No two people can bring the same kind of cookie so if you want your pick of recipes you needed to get your recipe in early.
3. No plain chocolate chip cookies (I am not sure why this was a rule--who doesn't like good ol' chocolate chip cookies!?!)
4. Be creative in the presentation--there will be prizes for the best displayed cookies!
5. Bring 6 dozen cookies! (Yep-6 dozen! I will discuss this later!)
I began by submitting my recipe--Chocolate Marshmallow Cookies (One of Jenni's recipes off of Give Peas a Chance). After that I didn't think much about it until the day before. I decided to begin with planning how I was going to display my cookies. I thought to myself, "Wouldn't it be so cute if I made little envelopes for each cookie and left the top flap open with the cookie peaking out?!?! Yes!"
So I went to the craft store and purchased cute Christmas scrapbook paper. I came home and made the envelopes. (At this point I am going to remind you that I had to take 6 dozen cookies--that is 72 cookies! That also means 72 envelopes!)
Here is a picture of the envelopes:
They were so very cute and actually didn't take very long to make.
Anyway, I then began making the cookies. Here is Maggie enjoying the frosting:
They cookies turned out well, but took a long time to make (6 dozen=72 cookies). I also almost burned up my hand mixer--the dough is really thick.
Here is a picture of the completed cookies:

Well, I probably should have made the cookies before I decided how to display them. The cookies were about 1 inch tall. The envelopes would have worked well for a flat cookie. The envelopes were not going to work (I gave them to the Primary to wrap Christmas ornament presents, so they didn't get wasted).

I decided to wrap most of them in wax paper and close them with a ribbon. I also wrapped the plates with cute Christmas paper. Here was my finished product:
I went to the party and got to met a lot of people. I had a great time and would love to go to another sometime. However....6 dozen cookies! I was thinking to myself, "I really hope I am not coming home with 6 dozen cookies."
Here is the display of cookies at the party:

WOW! A lot of cookies! I won first place for best display (I was the only one that did anything!), but was still wondering about 6 dozen cookies.
They figured out the math and determined that we each got 4 cookies of each kind! Yep! I was coming home with 6 dozen cookies! Now some of you might be thinking, "My family can eat 6 dozen cookies." If you are thinking this you probably have more than 2 kids at home and they are older than 5.
My suggestion is this: If you are going to throw a cookie exchange party and have everyone bring 6 dozen cookies make sure that the party is in June. People don't have a lot of extra holiday food around their house in June and might be a bit more excited about the idea of bringing home 6 dozen cookies!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL--MAY YOUR HOME BE FULL OF DELICIOUS COOKIES!!

You are SO crafty! Your cookies look very delicious...could you please post your recipe? I believe two or three dozen cookies would have been sufficient for all!
Holy cookies! We (Cameron) actually burned out a mixer making holiday goodies one year. Yours look delicious and I'm glad you had a fun time.
Very cute and yummy!! So besides 6 doz cookies what did you win for the best display?
